All we can do is blog about it

In thinking about the Mammoth heap of misery that is our world today, we are often led to put hope in things. This event, this election, this book, this conference etc, will change everything. It's a nice feeling, but you know it won't. And while fear is the opposite of hope, fear only lasts so long untill it gives way to hopelessness. In hopelessness only the things that are worthwhile regardless of outcome make any sense, like dreaming, maybe the Dreamworld is actually a world where you let yourself dream and treasure the Dream?

Bewildering Dreams make you stop and think about who you are, what you want, like rewilding, going wild again, free and feral, as an act of will and of contempt for domesticated "Life". Do you have some folks to go wild with? People are trying, but you won't necessarily read about it on the internet, for obvious reasons, but imagine going wild for, say, three months! Or for the rest of your Life! For most of us, all we can do is blog about it, for now. Share our Dreams, come together, read and write books that capture the Imagination of the future Primitive, like olwë melwasúl's novel die urmutter.

Nature knows when to give up

Experiencing a book or a flick once again later in Life is always a thrill. Having not seen the movie wargames since the early days of the commodore 64 home computer, the perception would of course be quite different today. With professor falken being a weird and shadowy figure back in the day, wanting to bring on a global thermonuclear war by exploiting the pentagon's respect for "rationality" and non-human judgement, his words now make more sense:

Now, children, come on over here. I'm going to tell you a bedtime story. Are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin. Once upon a time, there lived a magnificent race of animals that dominated the world through age after age. They ran, they swam, and they fought and they flew, until suddenly, quite recently, they disappeared. Nature just gave up and started again. We weren't even apes then. We were just these smart little rodents hiding in the rocks. And when we go, nature will start over. With the bees, probably. Nature knows when to give up, David.

This view, although sadly given up by the professor in the movie because of the youthful, pro-life spirit of the 17-year-old main characters, resounds today in the growing anti-civilization subcultures and the emerging awareness of civilization itself being our greatest enemy.

You want salsa with that?

Today, on what christians call ascension day, Mother Nature came down hard in the shape of a Tornado on downtown oslo, norway. A Whirlwind was brewing at the seaside of town hall square and swept in along the "quay of honor". Humming towards the tents of the norwegian salsa festival, the Wind first descended on a tent serving food. Sausages and napkins went up in the Air. Then the Wind came towards the stage and brought down the roof of the salsa festival.

The Whirlwind smashed everything and slurped the Water of a fountain, before continuing to destroy the rest of the tents, with people clinging to the poles, making a futile effort to resist the Power of Mother Nature. The caribean rhythms would raise money for haitian refugees fleeing the february coup d'etat, but apparently the Tornado blew away with most of the coins and notes.
